Due to COVID-19 all of our workshops are currently only available virtually. The workshops will still be interactive and involve breakout sessions. All materials will be emailed to the participants.
Brain-Compatible Learning – The parents will learn how the brain works and how people learn. They will learn strategies to help their students improve their learning in school. Parent will also learn what activities and actions can hurt student’s learning.
Internet/Social Media – The parents will learn about the newest apps and what the students can do with the apps. They will learn which apps could be problematic and which apps can help improve learning.
Learned Helplessness – The parents will learn about learned helplessness. They will learn how to notice some basic signs of learned helplessness starting to development and some strategies to assist students with learned helplessness.
Math Strategies – The parents will learn some basic math strategies to help students at home with math homework. They will learn about household items that could be used as manipulatives. The parents will also learn about the progression of the math concepts.
Reading Strategies – The parents will learn some basic reading strategies to help students at home with reading homework.
SAT Exam and ACT Exam – The parents will learn the differences between the SAT Exam and ACT Exam. The parents will be provided with information to help them pick the correct exam for their child.
Accommodations in College – The parents will learn about the accommodations that colleges provide. They will also learn about FERPA and how it can impacts college students.
Mindset – The parents will learn about the Growth Mindset and the False Growth Mindset. The parents will learn strategies that they can use to help their children to develop a growth mindset.
Grit – The parents will learn about Grit and the impact that it has on students. The parents will also learn strategies to help their children to improve their grit.
